Barbara – Pursuit of Happiness (Kid Cudi Cover)
Back in February, the band Barbara made some waves on Hype Machine with their cover of Kid Cudi’s song ”Pursuit of Happiness.” They popped up a few time between February and April with this cover but what happened? They’ve faded to obscurity it seems. If you visit their website (http://www.wearebarbara.com), it’s pretty much empty… Just two pictures and a stream of this cover.
Barbara, where are you? I really dig your take on this song and want to hear what else you can produce.
Yes, I have posted this song before but Val’s recent post of Iron and Wine inspired to me to post it again in the hopes of bringing Barbara back out of the shadows…

I heard through the grapevine that Barbara has been in the studio putting together an EP of original songs. (Back in April, I had the good fortune to hear a couple of them—anyone who liked the “Pursuit of Happiness” cover will be blown away.) I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from Barbara in the next few weeks.

Looks like Barbara’s music is about to get released. (Or at least their website is getting updated.)
The song I heard back in April that I can’t get out of my head is called “Whisper.” I hope it’s on the EP.

The album, “Robopopironica,” is now available on iTUnes and at Amazon. It’s one of those collections of songs that seem to have been developed thematically (both musically and lyrically)–so it’s incredibly satisfying to listen to it in its entirety. I’m loving it.
@Kris, yes it is certainly available. Barbara has just sent me a copy and once I give it a complete listen, you can definitely expect a song or two to pop up on my blog.
